چکیده

Traditional finite element analysis (FEA) programs are typically built as standalone desktop software. This paper describes an Internet-enabled framework that facilitates building a FEA program as distributed web services. The framework allows users easy access to the FEA core service and the analysis results by using a web-browser or other application programs. In addition, the framework enables new as well as legacy codes to be incorporated from disparate sites in a dynamic and distributed manner. To provide flexible project management and data access, a database system is employed to store project-related information and selected analysis results. The prototype framework demonstrates that the Internet can potentially enhance the flexibility and extendibility of traditional FEA programs.

Analysis of Tall Buildings with Bundled Tube System Subjected to Wind and Earthquake loads

At present, the tubular structural systems are mainly used in tall buildings to withstand earthquake loads. Although it is possible to analyse the structure by finite element methods using standard three dimensional programs, the system is generally time-consuming and expensive in the primary design work. In this paper, for the analysis of Framed-Tube systems, a simple method was studied and de...

Torsion Analysis of High-Rise Buildings using Quadrilateral Panel Elements with Drilling D.O.F.s

Generally, the finite element method is a powerful procedure for analysis of tall buildings. Yet, it should be noted that there are some problems in the application of many finite elements to the analysis of tall building structures. The presence of artificial flexure and parasitic shear effects in many lower order plane stress and membrane elements, cause the numerical procedure to converge in...

TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF 2D BUILDING FRAMES UNDER ARTIFICIAL EARTHQUAKE GROUND MOTIONS USING POLYGONAL FINITE ELEMENT METHOD

In this article, topology optimization of two-dimensional (2D) building frames subjected to seismic loading is performed using the polygonal finite element method. Artificial ground motion accelerograms compatible with the design response spectrum of ASCE 7-16 are generated for the response history dynamic analysis needed in the optimization. The mean compliance of structure is minimized as a t...
